Ukiyo-e in Motion Exhibition TOKYO 2024-2025

Ukiyo-e is an artform that flourished during the Edo Period, and it's seen as a cornerstone of Japanese culture. These intricate woodblock prints are known for capturing the beauty of beauty of everyday life, landscapes, and kabuki theater, and an event in Tokyo's Shinagawa area will allow visitors to enjoy ukiyo-e pieces with a modern touch.

Ukiyo-e in Motion Exhibition TOKYO will run from December 21st, 2024, to March 31st, 2025, and the digital art event transforms over 300 ukiyo-e masterpieces by renowned artists such as Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Hiroshige into immersive 3D experiences through 3DCG animation and projection mapping. Spanning 10 themed areas, visitors will be able to explore Edo-period art in a vibrant, interactive space. Alongside digital works, the exhibition features historical prints, reprints, and in-depth insights into the culture and history of ukiyo-e. Best of all, photography is encouraged at the event, so you can snap away to your heart's content.

The exhibition extends beyond its main venue, with several special collaborations featuring local businesses. PIGMENT TOKYO will be offering a workshop on the iconic "Hokusai Blue" ink, allowing participants to create postcard art. WHAT CAFE is presenting themed menus, such as a Ukiyo-e Cream Soda and "Akafuji Omu Hayashi," along with an original photo spot. Additionally, PETALS TOKYO is running an exclusive accommodation package promotion with traditional Japanese breakfasts inspired by ukiyo-e.

Tickets are available online and on-site, with advance tickets priced at 2500 JPY for adults and 1000 JPY for children, and on-the-day tickets priced at 2700 JPY for adults and 1200 JPY for children.

The Ukiyo-e in Motion Exhibition TOKYO takes place at the Terrada Warehouse G1 Building in Shinagawa. The venue can be accessed in three minutes on foot from Tennozu Isle Station, which is served by the Tokyo Monorail Haneda Airport Line and the Rinkai Line.
