明石海峡大橋の主な構造と特徴

Truss-structured bridge beams. The pathway is 47 meters high from the sea surface. Since it has a grating floor, you can see the water surface through it.

The large grab dredger drills as deep as 60 meters under sea where the supporting base stands

By using autonomous underwater vehicles to check the drilling process, they were able to proceed with the construction under difficult conditions.

There is a management and maintenance pathway just below the surface road of the bridge.

This black pipeline supplies drinking water to Awaji Island

This is the main pillar of the Great Akashi Strait Bridge. Inside, there is an elevator that carries you 300 meters up.

いよいよ、世界一の吊橋　”明石海峡大橋”への登頂の瞬間に近づく。

この大橋の建設も他の施設と同様、色々な試練があったようだ。たとえば、この狭い海峡の奥には国際港の神戸港が控えている為、一日１３００隻余りの船が行交う。大型船の航行も多い為、大きな波との戦いだ。その上、阪神淡路大震災にも遭遇している。震災直後には設計数値と実測値との間に約数メートルのズレが生じたのだ。幸い、シミュレーションや強度解析上、構造材料の補強で問題無く実現するに至った。
