２０１１年４月１０日　３５０万㎡の境内に約７０００本の桜があると云う根来寺を参拝した。

この史蹟・寺院では、中世のたたずまいを今も残しながら満開の桜が咲き誇っている。かつて紀北の地が誇る勢力として、時の権力者に抗う為僧侶は戦闘集団と化した。結果、焼討を受け、延焼してしまった事など微塵も感じさせないほど、現在は穏やかな花見の舞台だ。境内には柔らかな春の陽射しが差し込んでいる。その陽光が桜の花を輝かせている！まさに絶好の桜日和だ。
