Lake Yamanaka, Yamanashi

Lake Yamanaka is a gorgeous and tranquil spot to view Mt. Fuji in Yamanashi Prefecture. I was first inspired to travel here by these spectacular views of Fuji.

It's near another popular spot, Kawaguchiko, but I felt it was a much less crowded area. Yamanaka (literally meaning middle mountain) area has plenty to do and to discover. View the bright blue lake surrounded by mountains, including Mt. Fuji, of course. In December, you can go to the lake to view the spectacular "Diamond Fuji," when Fuji casts a giant shadowy reflection on the calm waters of Lake Yamanaka.
