Every winter, in the well-known ski resort Zao Onsen in Yamagata Prefecture, you can witness the creation of the very rare and truly spectacular Juhyo (Ice Monsters). Due to quite extreme climate conditions, the fir trees around the peak of the Zao Ski Resort become completely covered with snow and ice in a way that they end up looking like huge animals, statues or even monsters. You don`t have to ski to visit them, just take the gondola up to the peak and get inspired!
