Early Morning on Lake Yunoko

Arriving bright and early before the break of dawn, I was lucky enough to get here in time to see a fine mist still looming over one of Nikko's highest lakes.

Standing at 1475 meters above sea level, Lake Yunoko forms a pivotal part of the Yumoto hot spring resort where Japanese people have been coming since the 8^th Century.

Although you can find many Ryokan's and Hotels, this area has managed to avoid much of the mass commercialism like its larger cousin Lake Chuzenji, providing a more relaxing and worthwhile experience for anyone venturing this far.
