Suizenji Garden

5 2 Review

Suizenji Jojuen is a traditional Japanese landscape garden that was established in the late 1600s. The 64-hectare garden is as large as a park, which is why some may also refer to it as Suizenji Jojuen Park. Its current location was once the site of a temple built by Lord Hosokawa Tadatoshi in the year 1632. Suizenji Garden was built by his grandson several years later. It was designed to represent the 53 stations of the old Tokaido highway that ran between Kyoto and Tokyo. Suizenji Garden is a popular cherry blossom viewing spot during spring.
