Highlights

Sayahashi

The sayahashi, or sheath bridge, connects the main enclosure and the ninomaru. This covered bridge likely originated at a regular bridge and was transformed into its current form during the Edo period.

Yakuunkaku

The Uchien Garden and Yakuunkaku were villa to Matsudaira Takamatsu in 1917. It once covered twice as much ground as it does today but suffered air raid damage in 1945. In 2012, it was declared National Important Cultural Property.
