Kamakura has a few nice beaches that huge numbers of people swarm to every summer. You can swim at Zaimoku-za, Yui-ga-hama, Hase, and Koshigoe beaches from 9 AM to 5 PM in July and August. Beach restaurants and cafes also open up for the summer. If you surf, the hours are BEFORE 9 AM and AFTER 5 PM. Check wave conditions here. Surfers say that September to October is the best time to surf. The best sunset viewpoint is Inamura-ga-saki shore.
