一年一度的大沼函館冰雪藝術節在2月的第一個週末舉辦（2016年辦於2月6、7日 ）。在函館外的大沼國定公園，可以在結凍的湖面岸邊觀賞大約六十座在札幌可看到的冰雕。藝術節的主要賣點是用湖水做成的巨大冰滑道，遊客可以滑下來 – 不必坐雪橇！在這兩天的藝術節中可以欣賞冰雕和享受其他與冬季相關的遊戲和活動。
