Tokyo’s immersive art scene is about to expand once again with the arrival of a new flagship digital experience inside TOKYO DREAM PARK.

Opening on Friday, June 12th, RÊVE DES LUMIÈRES (Dreams of Light) is a full-scale digital art facility developed by TV Asahi in collaboration with Culturespaces STUDIO, the team behind the internationally recognized Lumière series. Positioned as the tenth location in the global network, the venue marks Japan’s entry into a concept that has already attracted audiences worldwide.

Designed from the ground up as a dedicated immersive art space, the facility spans approximately 1,500 square meters with a maximum ceiling height of 8 meters. It is equipped with 106 high-definition projectors and 63 speakers, creating a fully enveloping environment where image and sound are carefully synchronized. The aim is to create a sense of “awakening with a shower of art,” where visitors are surrounded by light, movement, and spatial sound from the moment they enter.

The experience begins in a lobby filled with projected light before moving through a series of curated zones that build anticipation and context. An “Introduction” area explores the background of the works and artists featured in the main program, while an “Atelier” space presents contemporary reinterpretations inspired by the screenings. Together, these spaces set the tone for the main experience.

At the heart of the venue is the Main Hall, a vast projection space where visitors can view narrative-driven digital art films in both a 40-minute main program and shorter feature presentations. The design ensures a consistent immersive experience regardless of viewing position, with visuals and sound fully surrounding the audience.

Beyond the main hall, additional installations expand the sense of immersion. Infinite Horizon uses mirrored surfaces to create a seemingly endless visual field, while the 360° Cube surrounds visitors with projections on every surface for a fully enclosed audiovisual experience. A Spiral Cylinder installation adds a sculptural layer, wrapping visitors inside a cylindrical projection environment designed for a more physical, spatial encounter with moving imagery. A mezzanine viewing level also allows guests to observe the main hall from above, offering a contrasting perspective on the scale of the installation.

The venue reflects Tokyo’s broader rise as a global center for experiential digital art, alongside popular attractions created by the likes of teamLab and Naked Inc., which have helped define the city’s reputation for large-scale, interactive installations.
