A huge outdoor celebration is set to bring music, food, culture, and family-friendly fun to Tama Central Park, as the first-ever Park Carnival in TAMA transforms the lush green space into a giant open-air festival.
Located just a five-minute walk from Tama Center Station, the sprawling 110,000-square-meter park attracts more than one million visitors annually, and the upcoming carnival aims to showcase the area’s vibrant community atmosphere with a packed lineup of entertainment and hands-on activities.
The festivities will extend beyond the park itself to nearby cultural facilities including Parthenon Tama, the Tama City Central Library, and the Green Live Center. Throughout the day, a stage truck set up on the expansive lawn area will host live music, hula dancing, comedy acts, and street performances, with visitors invited to join in the fun.
One of the event’s standout attractions is the alpaca interaction area, where guests can meet, feed, and pet fluffy alpacas visiting from nearby Machida. Around the park’s large pond, the Waterside Marche will feature food trucks, local vendors, and lively market stalls.
Meanwhile, the park’s historic former Tomizawa family residence will offer a glimpse into traditional Japanese life through cultural workshops, folk craft experiences, Japanese clothing try-ons, and rakugo storytelling performances. A traditional Japanese house cafe serving matcha sweets and coffee will also be open inside the historic building.
As evening approaches, illuminated bamboo lanterns and a glowing tunnel installation are expected to create a magical atmosphere throughout the park, rounding out a full day of entertainment in one of Tama’s best-loved green spaces.
