The porcelain neighborhood of Okawachiyama on the outskirts of Imari town in Saga Prefecture boasts nearly three dozen kilns and their attached showrooms. In the spring, many of the shops set up displays of Hina dolls. Yet unlike many typical Hina doll displays, where the figurines are made of wood or cloth, these dolls are all hand-crafted by local potters in the style of the famous Imari porcelain.
